Büro North’s wayfinding strategy for the Melbourne School of Design connects the external circulation on campus through the building to promote the building as a criticial part of the pedestrian network and activate the ground plane.
The architecture of the building is incredibly detailed, therefore it was important that the signage system be both prominent for users seeking assistance, whilst recessive for everyday users familiar with the space.
This objective was delivered by utilising clear acrylic signage to allow the structure to recede yet still deliver information when required.
IT’S UNDERSTATED WAYFINDING IS CRITICAL AS THE FACULTY IS OPEN TO STUDENTS FROM ACROSS DISCIPLINES AND TO LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL VISITORS. BÜRO NORTH ARE HIGHLY CONSULTATIVE, PARTICULARLY INVENTIVE AND ALSO WILLING TO INTEGRATE THOUGHTFULLY WITH OUR ARCHITECTURAL IDEAS.
