The unique destination of The Summit Bechtel Reserve is located in West Virginia on 10,000 acres of land. As the spaces that are currently being developed would exceed that of a full scaled theme park, it is the new home of the 10 day BSA National Jamboree that will accommodate approximately 40,000 scouts and an additional 50,000 visitors. The RSM team is currently working on every aspect of The Summit Bechtel Reserve, overall identity and wayfinding throughout the site, camping areas, basecamp activity areas and The Summit Center.
The design team has been balancing between the natural sense of place that site brings with the contemporary attitudes of the activities and innovative areas that are being created. The site is scheduled to accommodate the 2013 National Jamboree event and will continue to be developed for the future. This project was the winner of the SEGD Honor award in the leisure/entertainment environment category.
